The South West of Western Australia offers a unique landscape that is home to endemic wildflowers and wildlife.
As a biodiversity hot spot the region is under threat from human development and climate change. Initially touted as the "land of milk and honey" at the turn of the 20th century, the South West landscape was logged of pristine jarrah, marri and karri forest and dairy farming and other agricultural pursuits are still active, including viticulture.
A place that is steeped in history, next to the Blackwood River, Jalbarragup is a small community near Nannup. Up means "place of" in the language of the aboriginal Noongar peoples of Western Australia.
Situated at the top of a hill at the Golden Valley Tree Park, the Queensland bottle tree stands as a lonely sentinel to the Balingup Valley below.
